Annecy 2023

In 2023 I was lucky enough to go to the Annecy Animation Festival for my second time. There I got to see many amazing talks and network with some super talented people.

At the end of the week there, I started making a one panel comic for each day of the festival, plus some travelling and preparation days.

Annecy Fri + Sat

Friday night before travelling I was up until the early hours of the morning finishing my business cards for the festival.
This meant as soon as we arrived at our accomodation on Saturday, I crashed on the couch and got a good night sleep!

Annecy Sun

Sunday was largely a restful day wondering around the beautiful town, but we did pick up our passes for the festival!

Annecy Mon

Monday I did get to meet Holly Murtha who is not only incredibly lovely but also organised the program of LGBTQ+ shorts at Annecy!
Unfortunately my very particular food palette is a problem abroad though...

Annecy Tue

Tuesday we got to go to a talk by a bunch of Disney show runners including Dan Povenmire! On top of that I saw some 'True Queer Stories' shorts, it was incredible to see the increase in representation there.

Annecy Wed

Wednesday I got to see the Gesture and Sport shorts by some Paris-Lyon-Singapore students. They're incredibly talented, they're certainly gonna give me a run for my money!

Annecy Thu

Thursday I went to an LGBTQ+ meet up! It was intimidating but also really inspiring to see so many queer people in animation and even get to talk to a couple people who have been working in the industry for years.

Annecy Fri

FridayI was in a very good mood after a really encouraging chat with one of DNEG's recruiters, Dara McGarry.
We also got to see an early screening of Pixar's Elemental, one of the many awesome reasons to go.

Annecy Sat

Saturday was sadly our last day in Annecy. And to make things worse, I had to leave the queue to meet Jorge R. Gutierrez early to catch a flight we ended up missing anyway!
